Financial Aid

DTCC’s financial aid blog page can be found here.

The North Carolina Bar Association offers a $500 scholarship to paralegal students. The application deadline is March 31, 2014.

FAFSA

Even if you don’t think you qualify for financial aid, fill out a FAFSA form–Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Durham Tech’s financial aid office needs it to take a look at what they can do for you.

It’s a fairly simple process, and it’s free. You’ll need to have your federal tax return completed, but getting a jump on getting your FAFSA knocked out means you can get it to your school earlier.

You can get more information from Durham Tech’s Financial Aid Office web page, or visit them in the Phail Wynn, Jr. building.

Sound like a lot of work? It’s not. The FAFSA isn’t that complicated at all, and you may be surprised at what financial aid opportunities exist. Here’s a good video overview:

Remember–it costs nothing to complete the FAFSA form online at https://fafsa.ed.gov/. Beware of anyone who advertises a “fee” to file a FAFSA form online; these web sites are often scams.
