FAFSA Day – February 22, 2014

10 Jan

FAFSA Day is a program offered by the College Foundation of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the State Employees’ Credit Union. On February 22, 2014, students needing assistance with completing their FAFSA form can get help from volunteers. You can find out where these events are being held here at the CFNC web site. If you’re not a State Employees’ Credit Union member, the closest site for Bull City students is at North Carolina Central University.

Even if you don’t think you qualify for financial aid, fill out a FAFSA. Durham Tech’s financial aid office need it to take a look at what they can do for you.

It’s a fairly simple process, and it’s free. You’ll need to have your 2013 federal tax return completed, but getting a jump on getting your FAFSA knocked out means you can get it to your school earlier. And if you’re already working on your FAFSA, here’s a handy tip: Durham Tech’s school code is 005448.

There’s no need to wait until February, though. You can get more information from Durham Tech’s Financial Aid Office web page, or visit them in the Phail Wynn, Jr. building.

Sound like a lot of work? It’s not. The FAFSA isn’t that complicated at all, and you may be surprised at what financial aid opportunities exist. Here’s a good video overview:
