Fall 2013 Paralegal Club Officer Elections

Any student in the Paralegal Program is eligible to join the club by participating in club meetings. Any club member can be nominated for office. A club member may nominate themselves.

Nominations will open on August 28, 2013 and will remain open until September 4, 2013.

Nominees should include a brief bio. An example: “Tom Student – Vice President Nominee – I am a full time student in my second year in the program. I attend mostly day classes, and work a part time job at Starbucks. I live in Durham and volunteer at my local SPCA.” Additional info is acceptable. Nominations can be submitted via email to suttons@durhamtech.edu or in written form delivered to Susan Sutton. Nominees should have a commitment to service for the 2013-14 school year. There is typically one meeting per month during the school year.

An announcement naming the nominees, including the brief bio for each, will be placed on the department bulletin board and on the department blog. (dtccparalegalprogram.wordpress.com)

Ballots will be generated and placed on the department bulletin board and blog.

Voting will take place until September 11, 2013. Ballots can be emailed to Susan Sutton (place “Club Ballot” in the subject line} or brought to her office. The 2013-14 club officers will be announced September 16, 2013. A club officer meeting will be held shortly afterwards.

There are five positions. Their expected responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

– Report to the paralegal Technology Program Coordinator
– Liaison to alumni
– Preside over club meetings
– Attend on and off-campus student events
– Promote program within and outside college community
– Aid in fund-raising activities

Vice President
– Liaison to other student organizations
– Manage fund-raising activities
– Promote meetings
– Attend student events

– Record meeting minutes and distribute to club officers and Program Coordinator
– Provide notice of meetings
– Liaison with Paralegal Technology Program Coordinator to provide club content for program     blog and Twitter account

– Collect and safeguard club funds
– Keep an accurate record of financial transaction
– Present a year-end accounting of the club’s financial transactions
– Aid in fund-raising

Senate Liaison/Delegate
– Attend all senate meetings
– Represent club and report as required to senate
– Present information from senate meetings to club officers
